Does God create everything that exists?

The university professor challenged his students with this question. " Did God create everything that exist?" A student bravely replied, "Yes, He did!"  "God created everything?" The Professor asked.  " Yes, Sir," the student replied.  The professor answered, " If God created everything, then God created evil, since evil exist, and according to the principal that our works define who we are, then God is evil."

The student became quiet before such an answer. The professor, quite pleased with himself, boasted to the students that he had proven once more that Christian faith was a myth.

Another student raised his hand and said. " Can I ask you a question professor?" " Of course," replied the professor.

The student stood up and asked, "professor, does cold exist? "What kind of question is this? Of course it exist. Have you never been cold?" the students snickered at the you mans question.

The young man replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it had or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-460'F) is the total absent of heat; all matter becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat" The student continued, Professor, does darkness exist?"

The professor responded, " Of course it does."  The student replied, " Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absent of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact we can use Newton ’s prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wavelengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illumine it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present

Finally the young man asked the professor, " Sir does evil exist?"

Now uncertain, the professor responded, " of course as I have already said. We see it every day. It is in the daily example of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil. To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is

Just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God does not create evil. Evil is not like faith, or love that exist just as does light and heat. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light." The professor sat down.

The young man's name:  Albert Einstein

Do you struggle with Doubt?  Many of us do, we doubt about tomorrow,  we doubt if we have what it takes to win a big barrel race,  we have doubt in our jobs, and some have doubt in there faith. It seems that doubt is something that we think about a lot.  But did you know in the KJV bible “Doubt” only appears 33 times!  But the word “believe” appears 284 times!

There is really only one thing for sure;  It was there in the beginning of your life and it will be there in the end of you life. It’s God’s love for us and his love for his only son Jesus Christ.  God sent his son to earth to take Doubt away. “To believe.  In John 3:16 it say: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son,  that  whosoever BELIEVETH in him should not perish,  but have everlasting life.  Deep down in side of all of us we want to believe.  Some people will say: I wear a cross necklace,  I have a cross pin on my cowboy hat,  I have a nice leather cross tied to my saddle!  I have in my pickup one of those little Cowboy bibles.  How much more Christian can I be?

As humans we are worried about our outer Faith,  but God is more interested in our inner Faith.  When was the last time you picked up a bible and just read a few verses?   I just read the Feb issue of Barrel  Horse News and there was an article about the Fab 15.   After reading it, I was impressed with Maegan Reichert words of wisdom she says: Pray! And pray some more.  She must believe in a greater power of prayer.  There is  that BELIEVE Word again, there must be something to it, God wants us to Believe, God wants us To be Positive, and most of all Love him with all our heart.

In closing, we are approaching, the Easter Season, it would be a good time to re-connect with God.  Prayer and mediation is good for the soul.   It’s good for the mind. and if your shy just go and find a place you can pray and talk to God, I really BELIEVE in the power of prayer. I hope you enjoy these letters I write to ‘ Fence Post Of Faith”.   I don’t know all the answers, but I’m willing to try to preach and try to bring people closer to a life in Christ.   I was surprised  this week by my oldest daughter Kimber Dall, I send her some of my writings and thoughts, and she gets a kick out of the misspelled words, I can’t help it, I barely made it out of 7th grade, its what makes me unique.  Well anyway she worked at a Rodeo Queen workshop this last week in Ames , Iowa and she put on a church service for all who attended.  I could not be more proud, and as parent, I BELIEVE we need to share in those beliefs of faith to all of our family members.

I will be doing a Cowboy Church service at Columbia Barrel Bash in March, I hope you will attend, and if there is any one interested in doing a Cowboy Church service at one of the Barrel Bash locations please email me at, I cannot be at all the Barrel Bash races, so if you could do a Cowboy Church service at one of the barrelbash locations , I could get you hooked up.  I guess we call them Cowboy Church services because we may meet in a barn, or a horse ring, I have even held a Cowboy church service at a rainy high school rodeo in a gooseneck horse trailer.   At Cowboy Church service it does not matter what faith you are,  its like a old radio man use to say you can go to your church and I can go to my church, but lets all walk down the same sidewalk together. PS if anyone has a faith moment story please send it to me via email.

Adios my friend’s see you in Columbia in March. Jeff Metcalf
