Fence Post Of Faith - Oct 2010                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Fall is here, time to fix the roof so the rain don't get in, or should it? I recently got a letter from Miss Rodeo Iowa Jordanne Blair who will be going to Las Vegas in December to compete for Miss Rodeo America at the NFR. and if anyone who would want to help her monetarily she could use it to get to Vegas, I know what it takes my oldest daughter Kimber "Metcalf" Dall was Miss Rodeo Iowa 2003 . Well I want to tell you about my friend Jordanne, I got to watch her go thru Iowa High School Rodeo,  a good barrel racer, and her senior Year she ask me at the High School State Finals if she could sing and talk to the crowd at Cowboy Church about what God was doing in her life and what faith in God meant to her. I was floored and that day I joined the Jordanne Blair Fan Club, well not really but if every young person thought like her wouldn't it be a great. I think what every she goes on and does in her life she will be successful. This letter below is from Jordanne its called "BRING ON THE RAIN" I ask her at the Tri-State Rodeo if I could use it in Fence Post of Faith and she said sure.
Read it slow and ponder what she is saying. Ps: don't forget about Lincoln Neb.  Barrel Bash Oct 8-10 and Gifford ILL. Oct 29-31 Until we meet again Adios Jeff Metcalf
Bring on the Rain

This is just a random thought and a few feelings I had the other day and I decided I would pass it along, I hope it touches you in some way.
I have heard this song a number of times and just love it, but it wasn't until the other day that it really hit me.
Over the last few years my family has really been hit hard with a number of family complications and deaths. I know we all struggle with life's difficulties and negative situations and its easy to stop and ask God why? and question him all the time, but the words to this song hit me hard and made me really think, I no longer need to question what the Kings of Kings is doing!!
Mercy Me says it best with the following lyrics, take a minute to read through it and really take it to heart.
I can count a million times
People asking me how I
Can praise You with all that I've gone through
The question just amazes me
Can circumstances possibly
Change who I forever am in You
Maybe since my life was changed
Long before these rainy days
It's never really ever crossed my mind
To turn my back on you, oh Lord
My only shelter from the storm
But instead I draw closer through these times
So I pray

Bring me joy, bring me peace
Bring the chance to be free
Bring me anything that brings You glory
And I know there'll be days
When this life brings me pain
But if that's what it takes to praise You
Jesus, bring the rain

I am Yours regardless of
The dark clouds that may loom above
Because You are much greater than my pain
You who made a way for me
By suffering Your destiny
So tell me what's a little rain
So I pray

Holy, holy, holy
Is the Lord God Almighty

I bolded a few lines that really made me think! "Bring me anything that brings you glory" wow...in everything we do we need to glorify Christ, even in the darkest moments, there's a reason for it and most of the time we may not see it, but we need to praise the Lord, our Savior at ALL times! Of course its not as easy as it sounds, but if we change the way we think, the way we work, it will come easy.
I get asked a lot how I can stay so positive in life with what my family has been through...but like I said there is a reason, and this song states it, "If that's what it takes to praise you, bring on the rain" and Ill have to admit...its been pouring on my family lately!!
Another line states "because You are much greater than my pain." I don't mean this in a rude way, but its not about us and our pain, its about Christ and how we need to serve and commit to him. He died on the cross for us, his feet and hands were nailed to that cross, he was beaten, spit on, cursed and betrayed. But he did it ALL for us. He is the only way, the truth and the life....he is what gets us through. Like Carrie Underwood states it, this is our temporary home...I know we are here to serve and whitness to others, but I cant wait to get to my permanente one!
I hope this has touched you all in some way, I just wanted to send you some thoughts and hope that you take something for it, if not, feel free to pass it onto someone you think might need a little uplifting.
A few verses to end with:
James 1:12
"Blessed is the man who preserves under trail because he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him."
Peter 1 4:12-13
"Dear Friends, don't be surprised as the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange is happening to you, but rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed."
