DOUBLE B PRODUCTIONS, LLC – BARREL BASH RULES
We reserve the right to refuse any entry. By entering, contestants and parents/legal guardians agree to abide by all rules and regulations set forth for the event.
Online pre entries can be made on sgpevents.net You must pay entries online either by credit card (4.0% fee) or electronic check (no extra fee) to be in the pre draw. Keep in mind when entering online check information, you will need a driver’s license and a check number with at least 4 digits. The ach system sometimes has glitches please double check with your bank approximately 5 days after the transaction to make sure it come out of your account.. Pre draw closes SUN 11:59 pm before event and pre-draw will be posted by NOON Tues prior to the event on SGP. Late entries are taken on site (late entry closing times tba, as they are based on total number of entries for each event). SGP closes late entries online automatically when the race begins. No late fees. Late entries cash or credit card only (no checks). NOTE: WE NO LONGER CAN TAKE AMERICAN EXPRESS.
RV – most reservations are first come first served (pay at event). Failure to pay RV AND/OR STALLING is grounds for disqualification.
Barns and Stalls- All horses staying overnight must be stalled. FAILURE T FOLLOW THIS RULE MAY RESULT IN DQ. No overnight tying to trailer or setting up of portable panels. If a contestant has a stallion, please let the stall office know by typing stallion in text box on the stall reservation, so they can do their best to accommodate the horse. (same applies with kicking mares/horses etc.)
Coggins & Health Certificates- Contestants must prepare to show a current negative Coggins Test, and provide up to date Health papers, according to the state’s laws the competition is in. This is the contestant’s responsibility to have the proper paperwork.
Releases/Draw Outs/Substitutions- Refunds will be made for ANY reason through the pre-entry deadline (normally Sun before the event). After the pre-entry deadline, no refunds will be given for any reason. A rider may sell their spot (on their own) up until start of the first race on day one. DEADLINE DAY ONE START OF RACE TO SELL A SPOT! A horse change may be made up until the start of each race ($5 per change after day one). No extra charge if done on day ONE. If you sell your spot, you lose your office fee – the new rider must pay ORIGINAL RIDER for entry fee, and pay office fee to US, unless they have already paid that day’s fee on another horse. NO CHANGES MADE VIA EMAIL OR TEXT OR FB MESSAGE. A form can be found on the website to bring to the office for any spots being sold. These changes MUST be made by the new rider. NO SELLING SPOTS AFTER RACE BEGINS ON DAY ONE. Sidepots can be changed to the rider purchasing the spot only, please make sure you notify office of sidepot changes. Futurity/Maturity sidepots will be forfeited if not sold.
Registered Names: All horses entered must run under their official breed association registered names. Riders with multiple entries must ride each horse in the draw position in which they draw up. Failure to run horse in correct draw spot will result in in DQ. Horses cannot switch draw positions.
Dress Code/Western Attire: Anything long sleeved, or a short sleeved collared shirt, jeans, western boots and a western hat or helmet (No ball caps or other headgear allowed) Failure to follow the dress code will result in DQ. Hat Fine: Hats lost in the arena will result in a $5 fine. Hat fines must be paid to the barrel setter. Hats cannot be picked up without the $5 fine being paid, failure to pay fine to barrel setter may result in DQ. If a separate youth/senior class is held, you will NOT be required to wear a hat/helmet in the youth/senior class.
Draw Order: You must compete on the horse in IT’S DRAWN ORDER. If you are competing on more than one horse, there will be no swapping of draw positions. Missed Run: If a contestant misses their run it will result in an automatic No Time. There will be no option to run at a later time.
Format: The Barrel Bash Races will be in a 4D format. (half second splits)
Electric Eye: If the electric eye fails during a rider's run the barrel racer has the choice of a re-run, or a refund. It is up to the contestant to contact office staff and make it clear as to if they will take the re-run (at the end of the race or group of 50) or receive a refund. If a barrel is knocked down during a run in which the timer fails, or any other penalties occur, all penalties will be carried forward. Thus, no option of a re-run, and no refund will be given. Show management decision is final.
No Times/Disqualifications: A No time will be given to a contestant for the following reasons. - Failure to start the pattern within 60 seconds of the contestant’s name being called, the second time. A 3 call rule will be enforced. A contestant will automatically be DQ if they do not make it INSIDE the holding pen BEFORE the tractor’s park. Once shut the gateman will NOT re-open the gate until the group of 5 is COMPLETE. DQ for running a horse in a different draw position, swapping horses registered names in run order, or purposefully withholding a registered horse’s official name - If you miss your run, or run out of turn - Knocking over a barrel - If you break or miss the pattern - Not being in dress code - The horse falls - Running the incorrect division, based on age - Circling inside the arena, after passing through the mouth of the alley Please help us keep the ground fair for all contestants. Absolutely no extra circling of barrels, no circling past the mouth of the alley before your run, or training during competition runs. If the pattern is broken, the rider needs to complete the pattern, in a timely manner, or exit the arena immediately. Failure to comply will result in a $50 fine, and must be paid before the contestant’s next run
Tie Breakers: In the event of a tie for an individual race, the prize money for both places (the one the contestants tied for and the next place) will be split evenly. If there are prizes, we will go back to the fastest time run of the weekend for the tie breaker (same horse/rider combo). If there is still a tie, a roll of the dice among tied contestants will take place. Must be present for tie breakers. If tied contestants are not present the other will automatically win the dice roll. If none are present staff will roll in your place and the winner is announced.
Payout/Check Processing: $1 per run goes to sgp online system, $1 per open run goes to Bonus Race Finals (paidout 100% at the BRWF) the remaining entry fee is paid out 75% payback. 1x office fee per rider per day is required for all riders (fee varies depending on facility/show. RIDER must have a current year w9 on file with their social security number. We will make every effort to have the payout checks ready for pick-up 30 minutes after the last contestant runs each day. Checks that are not picked up will be mailed to the address provided on your w9 form.
TAX FORMS W9 form is required before issuing an winnings. A W-8 BEN form is required from non-US Citizens. W8 BEN is a tax document used to certify that an individual's country of residence for tax purposes is outside of the United States. It is required to determine foreign status for tax withholding and reporting purposes in the U.S. NO WINNINGS WILL BE ISSUED UNTIL THESE FORMS ARE ON FILE FOR THE CURRENT TAX YEAR.
*Checks must be cashed within 30 days. We will no longer re-issue checks without a re-issue fee of $40. Checks not cashed 30 days after issue date or checks that aren’t picked up (due to w9 not being turned in) will be void after 30 days and monies put back into the year end awards fund. PLEASE make sure you have a current w9 on file with Double B Productions, LLC.
Abusive behavior or neglect of an animal will not be tolerated. Abuse or neglect of an animal will be determined by the race operators, and all decisions by the race director are FINAL. The minimum fine for abuse or neglect will be $500, and you may be asked to leave the race immediately. No electronic training devices are allowed for any reason. If you are asked to leave, due to the abuse or neglect of an animal or for the use of an electronic device, all winnings and entry fees will be forfeited, and fines must be paid before you may enter another Barrel Bash event
Dangerous Animals: If the DOUBLE B PRODUCTIONS, LLC Management deems an animal dangerous to the owner, other individuals, other animals, or the property, DOUBLE B PRODUCTIONS, LLC Management reserves the right to ask the contestant to remove the animal from the race premises immediately. If you are asked to remove a horse or asked to leave, it will count as an automatic disqualification for the horse and/or contestant, and the contestant’s entry fees and winnings will be forfeited. All decisions by the race director are FINAL.
We love dogs! However, dogs are NOT allowed in the building where competition is held at any time. This is a requirement from our liability insurance company and it will be enforced.
RELEASE of LIABILITY, INDEMNIFICATION AND RELEASE PERSONAL INJURY: By entering as a participant, I hereby understand that no matter how careful the sponsors, offices, directors, or participants may be, my injury or death, as well as that of my horse, or my child is a possibility. And furthermore, I, as a participant (or parent/guardian of a participant) agree to hold harmless Double B Productions, LLC, its agents, facility, management, contractors, and employees from any expense, cause of action, damage, or claim of damage (including legal fees) of any kind whatsoever, which I might assert as a result of my (or my child’s) injury, sickness, death or claim. I also understand that all contestants and horses will be photographed and videoed and that outside photography is NOT allowed. I understand that if State and/or Local Authorities require presentation of said test chart at this event and I cannot present a NEGATIVE EIA (coggins) TEST CHART for any or all animals, I will be personally responsible for any fines and will be responsible for any fines levied on the event producer.
Sidepots Futurity (any horse 5 or under that has not competed prior to Nov 15 previous year in barrels) 2D full sec split. Maturity (any horse 8 or under that is not futurity eligible) 2D full sec split. Adult rider (age 20-49) 3D full sec split. Youth ages 19 and under as of Jan 1, Senior ages 50+ as of Jan 1. 3D full sec split. Most races ran as a separate class. Youth or Senior entry also wants to enter the open THEY MUST roll THEIR TIME from the youth/senior class TO the open class. In the case that the youth/senior is a sidepot, they will be required to enter the open and choose the sidepot.
PBRIP requirements: Here are the updated PBRIP requirements:

Current APHA Membership: All exhibitors must maintain a valid APHA membership to participate in the PBRIP program.

Matching Membership and Horse Ownership Records: If an exhibitor's APHA membership number is not linked to the horse owner per APHA records, both the exhibitor and the horse owner must have a current APHA membership.

$10 from every PBRIP sidepot entry goes to the association and another 10% is held by Double B Productions, LLC. Payout will be 4D ½ sec split. You can enter the sidepot on every open entry. It is ONE big race over the THREE days with ONE payout at the end.
Year-end awards will be given to the OVERALL hi point horse/rider in 2025. Top 25 will receive trophy jackets. Champion will receive a CUSTOM BENT HALO trophy saddle. Points given through 20th place and 1 point for having a qualified time in each div. Overall standings will be combined (not kept by div) but separated by Horse/Rider. A horse/rider combo may win more than one year end award. HI POINT HORSE/RIDER BUCKLES: when advertised, will be awarded to the hi point horse/rider combo in each div. Must compete all 3 days. Open points given in each div 20-1, and when youth/senior buckles are advertised (not given at all events) the are awarded by horse/rider in each div 10-1. In case of ties for buckle, we will go back to fastest time of the weekend to award buckle.

Photography: Photos will be taken of each and every rider. We do not allow contestants to ask photographers to “hold the flash” for any runs. Any rider found “stealing” photos from a website and using on social media or elsewhere without payment or permission, will be fined $500 and not allowed to compete at future events. We have ONE official photographer, and outside photography of contestants in the arena is NOT allowed at any time.
All vendors / posting signs (anyone selling ANYTHING or providing services) MUST register with the producer. (this includes selling puppies and used saddles). Only authorized vendors are allowed to sell items of offering their services on the grounds. We do not allow posting of for sale signs at the facilities we rent. If a public bulletin board is provided (not being used by the producer) you are welcome to post items there. Many facilities have fines (up to $100 per piece of tape) that carry over to the producer. Thus, the reason for this rule. Thank you.
